Insert wheel into frame, rim must be correctly aligned. 2. Remove the rear derailleur from the derailleur hanger. 3. Screw the axle of the tool into the mounting hole of the rear derailleur. 4. Move the indicator so that the tip touches the outer edge of the rim. 5. Fold the indicator away towards the arm so that it is not in the way. 6. Turn the tool by 180°. 7. Turn the indicator towards the rim. If the tip is less than 4 mm from the outer edge of the rim, the derailleur hanger is horizontally aligned. If it is 4 mm or more from the rim or presses against the rim, the derailleur hanger is misaligned. In this case, turn the indicator towards the hub. Use the shaft of the tool as a lever to correctly align the derailleur hanger. Repeat testing and bending until the gap is less than 4 mm. 8. Then hold the indicator in the same position and rotate the tool back 90°. Turn the indicator so that it points towards the rim. Check and bend here as well. Turn the tool 180° and proceed in the same way. 9. With the derailleur hanger properly aligned, the tip of the indicator should just touch the outer edge of the rim at one position and have less than 4 mm of play at the other three positions. Check and align all four positions until this is achieved. Note from the manufacturer:The rim must always be rotated so that the measurements are taken at the valve hole so that figure eights do not affect the accuracy of the measurement. Always measure at the outer edge of the rim to minimise errors due to the slope of the rim flange.
